TOWN OF BOSTON, N.Y. -- State Police are on the scene of a fatal accident in the Town of Boston.

The accident happened around 5:00 p.m. near Chestnut Ridge Road when two vehicles, a 2007 Toyota Prius traveling south on Boston State Road and a 2008 Ford Explorer traveling north on the same road, collided head-on, police say.

One of the vehicle drivers, Peachy J. Schrockk, 63 of Derby, NY, was taken to Mercy Ambulatory Care in Orchard Park where she was pronounced dead.

The 19-year-old who was driving the Ford Explorer was taken to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) with minor injuries.

What caused the crash has not been determined, although it is not believed weather played a major role, said State Police Public Information Officer James O'Callaghan.

Boston State Road closed temporarily between Chestnut Ridge Road and Omphalius Road as officials remained on the scene. An accident reconstruction team was on scene to help determine the cause of the accident. The road was reopened around 8:54 p.m. Sunday, according to the Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition (NITTEC).
