Hamburg Chooses New Vendor For Woodlawn Beach Concession Stand

The new owner plans to offer live music on the beach, volleyball leagues and give the bar a Tiki Bar theme.

HAMBURG, NY- The town of Hamburg chose a new vendor Monday night to run the concession stand at Woodlawn Beach.

Hamburg selected Robert Bieber, owner of Columbo's Restaurant near Lakeview, to run the concession stand, known as Woody's.

There was controversy over the process after Hamburg ended their contract with the previous operator. Restaurateur Tucker Curtain however claimed he had a contract to run the beach bar for at least another year.

Last week a judge ruled in favor of the town.

"First and foremost we looked objectively at what they were offering monetarily to the town to be able to operate there. They offered an amount that was more than double what the previous contract was. In addition we looked at a lot of subjective issues a menu, a marketing ideas," Town of Hamburg supervisor Steven Walters said.

Bieber plans to offer live music on the beach, volleyball leagues and give the bar a Tiki Bar theme.
