VILLAGE OF HAMBURG, NY - Controversy continues to swirl in the Village of Hamburg, over one business' decision to build a fence.
Last Friday, we heard from the owners of Alchemy Wine and Beer, who paid for this mural on the side of their building.
They, along with a lot of people in the community, got upset that the owners of the John and Mary's next door were putting up a fence which will block the view. They say they didn't know about the fence until after the mural was done.
Alchemy Wine and Beer co-owner Anne McIntosh told 2 On Your Side she knows the owners of John and Mary's are within their rights to erect a fence, but she hoped they could come up with a solution that would benefit both properties. She said she offered to pay for a different type of fence or landscaping that would keep people off the property but still allow people to view the mural.
Tuesday, the fence was up, and you clearly cannot see the mural anymore.
The owner of John and Mary's says she hopes everyone understands the need to maintain a safe parking lot for customers, and to protect them from potential accidents in the John and Mary's lot.
