Police officers union contract approved for Town of Hamburg

During Monday's executive session, the board unanimously voted in favor of a five-year contract with Southtowns Police Club

HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Hamburg Town Board has approved a tentative agreement for a proposed five-year contract with the Southtowns Police Club, the union that represents Town of Hamburg police officers. The unanimous vote went through on Monday during the boards executive session.

The contract is retroactive to January 1, 2024. The annual wage increases in the new contract include the following rates:

  • January 1, 2024: 4.0%
  • January 1, 2025: 3.5%
  • January 1, 2026: 3.5%
  • January 1, 2027: 3.5%
  • January 1, 2028: 3.5%

"We have a responsive and professional police department that is continuously looking to serve all of our residents and keep our community safe. We continue to attract the best and brightest officers," Town Supervisor Randy Hoak said. "This proposed contract will ensure that Hamburg residents continue to enjoy the services and protection of a department that is the envy of many communities across Western New York.”

Back in 2022, Town Supervisor Randy Hook successfully negotiated a one-year contact extension and has been working with the Union on finalizing an additional longer-term agreement since then.
