Hamburg High School reopens credit union inside school

Students can have the chance to work as a bank teller while at school in Hamburg.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — The Hamburg Central School District has announced the re-opening of its student-run Meridia Community Credit Union.

The student-run credit union will be known as the "Bulldog Branch." It originally had been in service in 2010 with the Hamburg Academy of Finance which gives students the chance to work as tellers and gain quality work experience.

The credit union continues today to serve those alumni students post-high school graduation with a full range of savings, checking, and lending options.

Meridia which was once known as Hamburg Central Federal Credit Union, was formed in 1955 by a group of teachers in the district. Since its creation, the community charter has expanded to open membership to anyone who works, worships, attends school, or lives in Erie, Cattaraugus or Chautauqua Counties in NYS.

The new 'Bulldog Branch" will have a new modernization to the service and offerings for students and staff of the High School. The branch officially opens on Wednesday, October 18 at 9:15 a.m. in the Hamburg High School lobby.

A great night to Kick-Off the Academy of Finance program at Hamburg High School! Students, parents and business partners...
