Driver dies following a morning crash with a deer in Genesee County

One person is dead, after hitting a deer in LeRoy Thursday morning

LEROY, N.Y. — One person died Thursday morning when their vehicle struck a deer in Genesee County.

Judith A. Purdy, 58, of Leroy was driving north on Route 19, when a deer entered the roadway from the east shoulder of the road. The deer was struck by the blue 2016 Nissan sedan.

The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call about the accident at 7:03 a.m. Thursday. The Genesee County coroner declared Purdy dead at the scene.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office investigated the crash and were assisted at the scene by the Town of Leroy Fire Department, Leroy Ambulance Service, and the Village of Leroy Police Department.
