BATAVIA, N.Y. — An ambulance carrying a patient and a crew rolled over after it was struck by another vehicle Thursday afternoon in Genesee County.
The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center said it received a 911 call about the crash at 2:54 p.m. Thursday. The crash happened on Route 98, at the intersection of Batavia-Elba Townline Road.
That's where the Genesee County Sheriff's Office said an eastbound 2024 Kia on Route 98 failed to yield the right of way. It struck the ambulance, which rolled over and came to a rest on its roof.
The driver and a passenger in the Kia were both taken to Erie County Medical Center with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening. An ambulance took the driver to ECMC, while Mercy Flight transported the passenger.
The patient in the ambulance was taken to United Memorial Medical Center by another ambulance.
The Town of Batavia, Elba, and Byron fire departments and Mercy EMS all responded to the scene.
