Upcoming free rabies clinic in Erie County

Animals eligible at the clinic include dogs, cats, and ferrets 3-months-old or older.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — The Erie County Department of Health has announced an opportunity to get your pets a free rabies vaccine in the new year.

On January, 20 the clinic will be held at the North Buffalo Community Center from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Those attending must make an appointment beforehand and can do so both online or by calling (716)-961-6800. Up to 3 pets will be accepted per appointment.

Animals eligible at the clinic include dogs, cats, and ferrets 3-months-old or older. Owners bringing a pet are asked to keep them on a leash or in a carrier at all times.

“Every rabies vaccine we give reduces the risk that a person or pet will be exposed to this deadly disease,” said Environmental Health Deputy Director Peter Tripi, who manages the county’s Vector Control Program. “We run these clinics several times each year – winter, spring and fall – to reach as many eligible animals as possible when they are due for a vaccine or a booster.”

There will also be an opportunity to get pets microchipped at the event.
