Fowler's submits largest piece of sponge candy for a world record

The Fowler's Chocolate Factory will be open for public tours Saturday and Monday.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It's a Columbus Day tradition at the Fowler's Chocolate Factory. The Buffalo-based chocolate company opens its doors to the public for tours each year, so everyone can see how they make Buffalo's favorite treat: sponge candy.

This year's tours will have an added attraction. Fowlers says they'll be showing off what they say is the largest piece of sponge candy ever. They recently submit it for a Guinness World Record.

Customers will have two days to view the factory, Saturday, October 12, and Monday, October 14. Tours run hourly from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. And all proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Club of the Northtowns.
