Niagara County announces summer food service program

Niagara County's Youth Bureau will be providing free meals to those in need this summer at various locations around the county.

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — Niagara County's Youth Bureau has announced that they will be offering a summer food service program to residents in need at no cost to them.

Free meals will be served throughout the week on Monday to Friday with the exception of no meals on the 4th of July Holiday. 

Meal locations include:

  • Outwater Park in Lockport 
    • Breakfast 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. & Lunch 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.
  • Salvation Army in Lockport
    • Breakfast 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. & Lunch 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Public Library in Niagara Falls 
    • Lunch noon to 1 p.m.
  • Packard Court Community Center in Niagara Falls
    • Breakfast 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. & Lunch noon to 12:30 p.m.
  • Salvation Army in Niagara Falls 
    • Lunch noon -to 12:30 p.m. *closed on Fridays*
  • Payne Park in North Tonawanda 
    • Lunch noon to 1 p.m.
  • Veterans Park in Gasport
    • Lunch noon to 12:30 p.m.

People can also text "Food' to 304-304 to find out which site is closest to them.

According to a news release from Niagara County's Youth Bureau it read, "This program ensures that children who are economically disadvantaged continue to receive nutritious meals during summer vacation. Meals are comparable to the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs throughout the school year. The Summer Food Service Program is a federally funded program that provides free meals to all children at approved SFSP sites."
