BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An elderly woman is in critical condition after being rescued from a fire Tuesday evening at the Marina Vista Apartments on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo.
Officials say it started in an apartment on the 12th floor of the 13-story building and was under control around 11 p.m.. The fire was contained to the single apartment unit, but it did cause about $150,000 in damages.
Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield was on scene. He credited the first responders for acting quickly to clear the entire building, all while fighting the fire.
The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
