One-of-its-kind Ferrari unveiled at weekend showcase

The Pierce-Arrow Museum unveiled a one-of-its-kind SP275 Ferrari.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Ferrari weekend is coming to Buffalo for the first time at the Pierce-Arrow Museum, bringing a unique SP275 Ferrari model from Italy to the Queen City.

This Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, the museum will unveil its a one-of-a-kind model, to be displayed alongside several privately owned Ferraris from local owners across Western New York and Southern Ontario.

James Sandoro, the founder and executive director of the Pierce-Arrow Museum, said the model itself nearly reaches a two million dollar value.

"It's a fantastic model, It's a one of a kind. There's only one in the world and this is it," Sandoro said as he shared his excitement for the museum's first-ever Ferrari showcase.

The special sportscar's unveiling took place at 11 a.m. Saturday and will be on display this weekend only.

The SP275 styling model has been donated by, and was originally designed for, a Florida doctor and friend of the Pierce-Arrow Museum.

In preparation for the showcase, Sandoro traveled to New Jersey to transport the model that had been shipped overseas.

"When it was coming, I was going to put it in a showcase. He said no, it's full size, and we're shipping it from Italy," Sandoro said. He added that the concept car cannot be driven as the wheels have limited movement, only turning forward and backward- not sideways.

A bright yellow SP275, which now resides in Florida with its owner, had been modeled after the concept car to be unveiled this weekend.

"Ferrari has always been a very famous maker, a quality maker, for racing. This is the first Ferrari we've had, and we're so lucky that he gave it to us," Sandoro said, adding that visitors will be able to see pictures of the yellow Ferrari on display this weekend.

Car lovers and collectors of all ages are invited to Buffalo's Ferrari weekend. Admission rates are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. For more information, head to Pierce-arrow.com.
