Feedmore WNY March for Meals program helps those in need

The weeklong event is part of a national campaign to spread awareness about the vital role of the Meals on Wheels programs.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — FeedMore WNY is having its March for Meals week where organizers and community leaders deliver nutritious meals to people in our region who may be in need of food.  On Tuesday, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown joined the cause.

This is part of FeedMore WNY's efforts to give meals to older people in Erie and Niagara counties who may live with disabilities or are dealing with isolation and loneliness.

The weeklong event is part of a national campaign to spread awareness about the vital role Meals on Wheels programs play in maintaining the health and independence of our older community members.

"We are grateful for all the community leaders who are volunteering and helping us raise awareness about the critical importance of Meals on Wheels programs during March for Meals week," Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY said. "FeedMore WNY's home-delivered meals program provides nourishing meals and friendship to our most vulnerable neighbors. We hope that March for Meals inspires more community members to become volunteers – as more and more neighbors continue to rely on our services, home-delivered meal volunteers have become one of FeedMore WNY's most urgent needs."

West Seneca and the Town of Boston supervisors joined the mayor as well. The program runs until March 15.
