East Aurora woman struck and killed while crossing the road Sunday

A 79-year-old woman was struck and killed Sunday morning in East Aurora by a USPS truck according to police.

EAST AURORA, N.Y. — East Aurora Police responded to a fatal pedestrian accident on Sunday involving a United States Postal Service delivery truck. 

On Sunday, October 20 at 10:02 a.m. East Aurora Police received a 911 call that a female pedestrian had been hit while crossing at the intersection of Main Street and Olean Road. 

The vehicle that had hit the woman was a United States Postal Service delivery truck and had been turning right from Olean Road onto Main when the collision happened. 

East Aurora fire officials and the AMR Ambulance service responded to the scene. They transferred the woman to ECMC via Mercy Flight for serious injuries, which she later succumbed to. 

The female victim was identified as Mary E. Kerwin, 79, of East Aurora. The driver of the USPS truck was not injured, and was fully cooperative at the scene.
