NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal car accident that happened on Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Lower Mountain Road and Baer Road.
911 dispatchers had received multiple calls at 3:14 p.m. that an accident had happened and two cars were involved. When Niagara County Deputies arrived at the scene, it could be seen that a 2009 Ford pickup truck and 2006 Mercury sedan had collided.

The collision had caused the pickup truck to roll onto its side, and the backseat passenger who was identified as a 71-year-old woman from Niagara Falls was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other occupants in the truck were taken to ECMC with minor injuries.
Three people in the Mercury were also taken to ECMC, and the driver of the Mercury was taken by Mercy Flight with a severe leg injury.
All of the names of those involved are not being shared, while awaiting family notification.
