Fatal car accident Thursday morning in Niagara County

The driver was the only one in the car during the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials.

WILSON, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal car accident on Thursday morning in Wilson. 

NCSO Dispatchers received a call around 9 a.m. regarding a car that struck a tree in the 2800 block of West Lake Road. 

Officials from volunteer fire companies such as Wilson, Olcott, and South Wilson arrived on the scene where the only occupant in the car received emergency care but was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver was identified Friday as 59-year-old Brian Bolt of Amherst.

The "investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident Investigation Unit into the incident is continuing," the sheriff's office said in a statement Friday.
