LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Lockport Firefighters responded to a residential fire on Tuesday night on Crosby Avenue.
When firefighters arrived on the scene flames could be seen on the exterior Northeast corner of the house, and spread to a small porch under that corner.
The crew was able to bring the initial flames under control before they worked on the first and second floors inside the house. According to the Lockport Fire Department the most damage was contained to the exterior of the house.
Crews also ventilated the house to clear as much smoke as possible, and approximately 450 gallons of water was used.
Residents were home at the time of the fire, and able to safely evacuate according to fire officials. There were 4 people total displaced by the fire, 2 adults and 2 children. The red cross is assisting those with temporary housing.
A cat was also rescued from the fire, and returned to its owner.
No injuries were reported for any of the crews or residents.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Lockport Fire Department was assisted by the Niagara Falls Air Reserve, Lockport Police, South Lockport, and the Wrights Corners Fire Company.
