BUFFALO, N.Y. — Families visiting the Naval Park on Saturday got an up-close look at some emergency vehicles, thanks to a partnership with Explore and More Children's Museum.
More than 20 emergency and military vehicles took over Canalside as children got a chance to look and ask questions from first responders for a hands-on learning experience.
The museum hopes the event inspires children and gives them a better understanding of the people doing jobs in their community.
"We actually have military vehicles. We have police, first responders," said Michelle Urbanczyk, the museum's CEO. "Anything we really consider our heroes are coming today. I'm touching it, I'm feeling it, I'm doing it, and you tend to have a better understanding of what it does, so we really want kids to touch and play."
This was the first Honk for Heroes the children's museum has hosted, but plans are already in the works to make this event happen every year.
