Even in May, there are still chunks of ice in Niagara River

Spring and the cherry blossoms have arrived, but some remnants of winter remain if you look hard enough.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Yes, there is still ice in the water.

We're in the first week of May, and we're still seeing big chunks of ice in the Niagara River.

According to Storm Team 2, the water temperature of Lake Erie rose above the freezing mark only a week ago.

The lake is now less than 1 percent ice.
