BUFFALO, N.Y. — Right now many shelters across WNY are at capacity when it comes to taking in new animals, and the Erie County SPCA has created a new way to try to help those in the community who have to re-home their pets.
Those who face the unfortunate circumstance can list a pet on the SPCA website for free. Listings will include a picture of the pet, and description for those interested in adopting to learn more.
'Rehome' by Adopt-a-Pet.com is what the Erie County SPCA will be utilizing.
“Our West Seneca location is typically filled to capacity as we work to meet the needs of the animals most in-need and at-risk,” says SPCA President/CEO Cait Daly. “Healthy, owned pets who need rehoming usually cannot be admitted by our SPCA or, unfortunately, by many local animal shelters, rescues, and organizations also filled to capacity. By using Rehome, pet owners can display photos of their pets on the SPCA’s popular website in the hopes of finding new owners. Additionally, people who have been searching for particular types or breeds of animals not often found in shelters may find what they’ve been waiting for through Rehome.”
The website is to help both those in tough situations, and those looking to find their new forever furry friend.
