The Erie County Sheriff's Office has a new accelerant detection K-9 for its fire investigation unit.
Sheriff Tim Howard says that Sheriff's Office acquired 'Clipper', a 1-1/2-year-old pure breed black Labrador retriever. He will be Detective Kuhlmey’s new partner.
Clipper graduated from the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Canine Training Center in Front Royal, Virginia on December 7. He is proficient in detecting specific classifications of ignitable liquids and has performed more than 5,000 missions during his training.
The sheriff's office also announced the retirement of their current accelerant detection K-9, Axe.
During initial training, another dog attacked Axe and he became timid and non-responsive during training, the sheriff's office says.
Axe will now become a part of Detective Kuhlmey’s family.
