WEST SENECA, N.Y. — The non-profit, Eight Days of Hope, which has its northeast satellite officer in Buffalo is on the ground to help.
Eight Days of Hope will be out in three communities, West Seneca, Lackawanna, and Cheektawaga. They will be here for the next few days helping people remove snow from their houses.
This group travels all around the country and helps out families in need after a natural disaster, from wildfires to hurricanes. but this week, they are in Western New York after this second round of lake effect snow.
For the next five days, they will help families by clearing driveways and roofs. They will also help clear out vents and furnaces.
Steve Tybor is the president and founder of this organization. He said snow removal is something they do all the time and they are happy to do everything they can to help.
"But how do you ignore the fact that people have 70 inches of snow? You know, the single moms, the widows, the elderly, maybe people with physical liabilities or challenges that they can't get out and even get to their mailbox. Or what if they get sick and they need medicine? So, we are open to do whatever that needs to be done. We already had a request and said, 'Hey, can you go get my subscription for me?' So, we are willing to be flexible. That's who we are and that's why we do it," Tybor said.
Eight Days of Hope is still looking for more volunteers to help shovel snow and remove rooftop snow from the ground, so you won't have to be on a ladder or operate heavy equipment. They will be here through till at least next Tuesday.
