HAMBURG, N.Y. — Frontier Middle School had to be evacuated Wednesday morning due to a gas leak.
All middle school students were sent over to the high school for precautionary purposes.
In a social media post made by Frontier Central Schools at 9:48 a.m. on Facebook they said that they will keep their website updated hourly.
As of 11:22 a.m. the school said in an update "National Fuel is still unable to determine the location of the gas leak. Middle School students will not be returning to the Middle School today. If you would like to pick up your student, you may do so at the High School auditorium. Please bring proper identification. All Middle School students that are unable to be picked up from the High School will go home on their regular bus run and will be served lunch at the High School."
The district posted another update at 12:15 p.m. that any middle schooler not picked up by 1 p.m. will be sent home on their regular bus run.
"National Fuel determined that the potential leak was coming from the ceiling corridor of the hall adjacent to the Middle School gymnasium. That gas line has now been capped and permanently shut off at its source," the school said in an update late Wednesday afternoon.
Classes at the middle school will he held again Thursday.
