BUFFALO, N.Y. — Allen Street Poutine Company and Hertel Avenue Poutine & Cream are two Buffalo businesses that have decided to eliminate all single-use plastic tableware from their restaurants.

To do this, the restaurants have switched from single-use tableware to more eco-friendly options.

Wooden utensils, paper straws, and cardboard to-go containers are some of the items that have been introduced since the switch. The plastic baskets that were once used for the restaurants' poutine have also been replaced with reusable metal ones.

"We decided to do our part in the effort to reduce non-biodegradable waste that ends up in landfills and in our waterways," said Jake Fraser, a co-owner of the poutineries, "the switch has been seamless and well received by our customers."
