EAST AURORA, NY – Dozens of people showed up to a rally to protest Governor Cuomo and his education reform program.
Parents, teachers, administrators, board members, legislators and even some students were in attendance to demonstrate against what organizers say is Cuomo's underfunding of public education, and his perceived attack on the local control of public education.
"His whole reform agenda does nothing to improve education in the classroom, or student learning," said Larry Grisanti, an educator. "The teacher evaluation process is now a top-down evaluation process, proposing to bring in people from outside the district to evaluate teachers."
Participants are calling on the governor listen to the experts in education, parents and educators, and stop what they call his misguided attacks on public education.
