BUFFALO, N.Y.-- After the lights went dark early Tuesday morning from the first night of shooting Paramount's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2," some residents closest to the 33 expressway were not happy.
There were reports of spectators being shuffled around by crew members and police, saying that they had to stay back away from the guard rails. Residents told 2 On Your Side they found trash left on private property, crews tore up lawns with their equipment, and were rude to homeowners coming out of their homes to ask questions. Noise from the stunt cars and explosions also kept others up well into the night.
"The noise level was unlike any other noise level in recent history here," said Jeff McQueen, a resident along route 33. "In the canyon, when it's exploding in the canyon, it's even extra loud... I think the crews should keep in mind that this is still a community, and people still have to get up in the morning and go to work," McQueen said.
The only signs posted near the filming route were "No Standing" parking signs indicating the dates of the filming, but no further signs explaining where people could or could not stand. Residents who would normally park along Humboldt Parkway had to find alternate parking along side streets, leaving many to walk a distance from their homes.
"They can blow up brand news cars, they can't put the money into the signs to let the people know?" asked Mattie Moore, a Humboldt Parkway resident.
The surrounding neighbors to the filming route were not against filming, however, hoped for better signage, warning and consideration near their homes. Mayor Byron Brown told us he was not aware of any complaints, but said the production company handling the shoot, Paramount Pictures, would be holding another meeting with residents later this week to address their concerns.
