BUFFALO, NY - The Channel 2 Daybreak crew took the show on the road Friday morning to kickoff the Memorial Day weekend. The team was live from Canalside in Buffalo, where a lot has changed for the Summer.

Beginning today, the new canals, known for ice skating in the Winter, are open for paddle boating, pedal boating (yes, there is a difference), remote control sail boats (called Sail the Canal), and there are new Blue Bikes for rent as well.

The sail boats are just like the ones at Central Park in New York City. Canalside and Central Park are the only two places that have these types of sail boats. They are remote operated but you only control the rudder and sail, the wind does the rest.

At the Boardwalk, next to the Buffalo River, you can still rent water bikes and kayaks. The Boardwalk at Canalside is also home to a carnival for the Memorial Day Weekend.

Coming in June there will also be re-purposed shipping containers for the vendors market.

Watch some of the Daybreak coverage from Canalside below, and see the new attractions in action.
