BUFFALO, N.Y.- City leaders unveiled a plan five-year plan Monday night to combat homelessness in Buffalo.

A core aspect of the plan is expanding the Buffalo City Mission facility at Tupper Street, creating a three-story campus that officials says would provide more space and resources for those in need.

"Residents are very interested in knowing what would be the next step that the city mission would like to take, considering how important the city mission is to the city of Buffalo, and to residents who sometimes find themselves in need of the services of the city mission," Buffalo Common Council President Darius Pridgen said Monday.

The plan also includes helping the homeless find permanent housing and employment, with the goal of eliminating homelessness in Buffalo by the year 2020.
