Dog owners charged with animal cruelty in North Tonawanda

Police and a North Tonawanda dog control officer on Saturday received a tip about a neglected dog.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — North Tonawanda Police said Sunday that the owners of a neglected dog have been charged with animal cruelty.

Police and a North Tonawanda dog control officer received a tip on Saturday about a neglected dog. Once they located the dog, North Tonawanda Police said the officer took the dog to a veterinary hospital.

According to the North Tonawanda dog patrol officer, the injuries will require a long-term hospital stay and extensive physical therapy. 

North Tonawanda Police on Sunday night said the dog has been receiving IV fluids and eating small meals.

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to support the dog's recovery.
