NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriff's Office is sharing with the community the opportunity to utilize their 'Respond with Care Decal Program'

Through the program, residents can get a decal that would help first responders at the time of an emergency identify those who may have a hard time communicating or understanding directions.

Decals are meant to be displayed near a front window of their home or on the rear river side window of their car.

According to the Sheriff's website, "This program is ideal for households with a member who is blind or deaf, has autism, Down Syndrome, Alzheimer’s Disease, mental disabilities, or other communication disorders."

Sheriff Filicetti said, “These decals will be helpful for first responders to ensure the appropriate response when dealing with individuals that may have limited capabilities when interacting during an incident. Our priority is the safety and care of all Niagara County residents”.

Decals are available to those who would like to get one throughout Niagara County at local fire departments, town halls, police agencies, and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office. People can also contact the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Community Services Division at (716) 438-3310 or filling out the form here.

Information provided for decals remains confidential and is only utilized by fire responders during an emergency.
