BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Special Olympics of New York and Community Beer Works are teaming up to announce the launch of a new beer for a good cause.
Inspired by the polar plunge, Community Beer Works has created the 'Plunge Pils' a pilsner beer that will donate $1 of every sale sold in the taproom to the Community Beer Works Polar Plunge team.
The Polar Plunge benefits athletes of New York's Special Olympics, and is happening on Saturday, December 1 at 4:00pm.
“Polar Plunge Pils is a colorful beer that infuses Buffalo’s selfless hometown spirit into a refreshing brew that celebrates the Special Olympic New York’s work in making competitive sports accessible to all,” said Community Beer Works Co-Founder Chris Smith. “Great beer that supports even greater causes is what we pride ourselves on. We can’t wait to see everyone at this year’s Plunge.”
Plunge teams will jump into the freezing cold waters at Woodlawn Beach State Park. This year's plunge marks the 17th annual year. it's not only the chilliest but the largest plunge in New York State.
“We are thrilled to once again have the support of Community Beer Works, both with this product and for the Polar Plunge,” said Erica Raepple, Senior Director of Development in the Western Region. “Community engagement is one of the pillars of our organization, and this is one of our finest examples.”
Thursday, November 2 people will be able to get their hands on the new pilsner with a launch party at Community Beer Works. The party starts at 5:00 pm, and is at the 7th Street location.
