BUFFALO, N.Y. — 2 On Your Side's very own Claudine Ewing was honored by The Bar Association of Erie County on Tuesday, for her exceptional work as a journalist.
She was presented with their Media Award as part of the annual Law Day Luncheon. BAEC cited her integrity, compassion, and reporting skills as the reason for the award.
"Law Day is an important time to not only recognize the contributions of awardees to our legal community but also to remember the importance of civic education," said BAEC President Timothy Graber. "Understanding of the rule of law is essential to our democracy."
Other honorees included former Erie County District Attorney John Flynn, who was given the Liberty Bell Award. WNY Law Center's Joseph Kelemen was given the Justice Award. The Police Officer Award was presented to Erie County Sheriff's Deputy Richard Drew. Anna McCarthy got the Pro Bono Award. Rounding out the list of award winners was Heidi Mahon, who earned the Special Service Award.
This year's Law Day theme was 'Voices of Democracy.'
