CLARENCE, N.Y. — Travelers along the New York State Thruway will have another service area available to them in Western New York.
On Wednesday, the Thruway Authority announced that the Clarence Service Area is now open to the public.
2 On Your Side's Dave McKinley was able to get a look inside.
The site is the eighth service station to open as apart of a $450 million project to redevelop all 27 Thruway stations.
The Clarence Service Area is located between the Pembroke-Medina exit (exit 48A) and the Depew-Lockport exit (exit 49).
According to the Thruway Authority, it is the first location to open with separate amenities for the commercial trucking industry. Those include:
- Separate entrance
- Lounge
- Showers
- Lockers
- Restrooms
- Washer and dryer
Amenities that will be available to everyone include:
- Outdoor seating
- Dog Walking Area
- Farm market space
- Private Nursing Area
- Digital Tourism Kiosk*
- Four level 3 high speed EV chargers (coming soon)
- Burger King
- Popeyes
- Dunkin'
- Applegreen C-Store
- Taste NY Food and Drink Products
A Thruway Authority spokesperson told 2 On Your Side that the Pembroke service station is expected to open around mid-July.
