TONAWANDA, N.Y. — City of Tonawanda Police responded to reports of a man who fell off of a bridge on Thursday afternoon.
Officers arrived to the scene at Renaissance Bridge and could see a man in the canal struggling to swim. An officer then threw the man a life vest, and soon after jumped in to help assist.
After the officer was able to gain control of the struggling man, the officer got him safely to the North Tonawanda shoreline.
The 54-year-old man was taken to ECMC where he was evaluated, and is expected to make a full recovery. It is unclear as to why or how he fell into the water.
