LOCKPORT, N.Y. — The City of Lockport has issued a Code Blue from now until Sunday, Dec. 1.
In a post made to the City of Lockport's Facebook page they wrote "Code Blue will be in effect from Tuesday, November 26th through Sunday December 1st, 2024. Overnight temperatures are forecast below freezing throughout the period. Mayor Lombardi has called for Code Blue to continue through 8 am on Monday December 2nd, 2024"
Those who need to seek an overnight shelter can go to the Salvation Army between the hours of 8 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Anyone who goes after 10 p.m. is asked to please report to the walk-up window at the Niagara Street entrance of the Lockport Police Department where they will assist those in need.
When the temperature drops below freezing or 15 degrees Fahrenheit, it triggers one of two alerts, Code Blue 32 or Code Blue 15. Emergency situations near zero degrees or with extreme weather trigger additional response.
