BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo has released its 2023-2024 Winter Snow Plan, detailing how it will react when winter storms hit.
Highlights from this year's plan include the Department of Public Works maintaining a snow removal fleet of three dozen plows and more than a dozen front loaders. The city is also expecting an additional four new snowplows before the end of the year. Buffalo plans to increase funding to hire private contractors by 350 percent, bringing the total to one million dollars.
City officials say they are also improving how to get the word out, using digital message boards and emergency texts that will be sent through the BuffAlert system to deliver warnings in 66 different languages.
“I’m proud of all the work department heads and staff have done to prepare the Snow Plan,” said Mayor Brown. “This plan is comprehensive and will help our city and community members prepare for the winter season.”
