Children's Literacy Week closes with Children's Book Expo

The expo had close to 200 books to give away during the event, and it had breakout sessions for children, parents, and teachers.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Children's Book Expo took over the Buffalo-Niagara Convention Center on Saturday.

The event featured more than 40 well-known local, national and international children's authors and illustrators, encouraging children to read.

The expo had close to 200 books to give away during the event, and it had breakout sessions for children, parents, and teachers. Families also had an opportunity to purchase books from different vendors. 

This year's Children's Book Expo featured an interactive wall art mural, book-themed craft tables featuring Expo books, a character corner with Curious George and Peppa Pig, Paws for Love Therapy Dogs. 

The event took place from 10 a.m until 3 p.m. at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center and was free and open to the public.
