Woman found on Kensington Expressway is ruled an accidental death

Evidence thus far does not suggest any criminal charges will be given as the death seems to be accidental.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Cheektowaga Police Department have an update on the death of a 21-year-old woman who ended up on the Kensington Expressway and then hit by a vehicle.

According to Cheektowaga Police, dispatch received calls for an ejection from a car shortly before 6:30 p.m. on February 8th.

In a statement, police said they found a 21-year-old woman on the 33 West, between Cayuga and Union Road. She had been found in the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials now say the 21-year-old was alone in the back seat of an Uber, and physical evidence suggests she climbed out of the rear window of the vehicle while it was moving. Her upper torso was outside the vehicle when she fell out, and was hit by another car traveling down the Kensington Expressway.

Police say it's unclear exactly what caused her to fall from the window.

Both of the drivers in the cars involved in the accident came forward when the incident occurred, and have been cooperative throughout the investigation process.

Several witnesses have been interviewed by police who were driving on the expressway, and evidence thus far does not suggest any criminal charges will be given as the death seems to be accidental.

When the investigation is finished more updates will be provided.
