Cheektowaga Police Chief announces retirement

He made a Facebook post to say his farewell and thank everyone.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — The Cheektowaga Chief of Police, Brian Gould, is retiring after 23 years. He made the announcement on the Cheektowaga Police Department's Facebook page on Thursday. 

In the post, Chief Gould reflects on his over two-decade career serving the town of Cheektowaga as a police officer and Chief of police.

While the public found out on Thursday, he told his crew members and town officials about his decision to say goodbye to this chapter of his life on Monday. 

"I have no doubt that this community will continue to thrive under the guidance of my successor," Gould said.

To his colleagues in law enforcement, Gould writes, "I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering dedication and commitment to our profession. It has been an honor to lead such an exceptional group of individuals, and I am confident that you will continue to serve with the utmost integrity and professionalism."

Chief Brian Gould's retirement will officially begin on November, 30.
