CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. — Cheektowaga Police responded to a fatal pedestrian accident that happened on Walden Avenue on Friday afternoon.
All traffic was diverted away from the accident area following the incident, which happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Thruway exits from I-90 onto Walden were closed while officials investigated.
Police said it appeared that "the pedestrian appeared to step off the curb and was struck by a passing truck. The pedestrian was declared deceased at the scene" during an update at 4:20 p.m.
Cheektowaga Police issued a statement shortly past 6 p.m. Friday, confirming that the crash happened on the eastbound section of the roadway that passes over I-90. The pedestrian has not been identified.
