BUFFALO, N.Y. — In the summer of 1984, the comeback story of fictional baseball great Roy Hobbs hit the silver screen. The Natural featured an all-star cast, Robert Redford, Robert Duvall, Kim Basinger and Glenn Close.
Here in Western New York, the biggest star, however, was Buffalo.
The Queen City was the backdrop for this classic film. The Old Rockpile, War Memorial Stadium was the home of the New York Knights, and just one of several shooting locations. The South Dayton train station, Parkside Candies, The Central Terminal, All-High Stadium all were used in the shooting.
