BUFFALO, N.Y. — The official end-of-summer events took place Sunday at Blessed Sacrament Church in downtown Buffalo.
The welcome-back celebration was open to all parishioners who belong to the downtown family of Catholic parishes. It included Bills-themed activities, food, and raffles.
Organizers said it's a way to get people excited about coming to church.
"We are attracting people from our community, not just from Blessed sacrament parish, and I think that's fantastic, because especially in today's day in age, we need to build community," Michael Pitek, an event organizer, told 2 On Your Side.
There was also a voter registration and a parish registration tent at the event.
