Three Catholic Health nursing homes were ranked in the nation's best list

The local nursing homes are ranked in 'America's Best Nursing Homes 2025 Survey'

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Newsweek and Statista have announced 'America's Best Nursing Homes 2025' and three local Catholic Health homes made the list. Mercy Nursing Facility, Father Baker Manor, and McAuley Residence are ranked among the nation's best by state.

Mercy Nursing Facility at OLV in Lackawanna was ranked number four in New York State in nursing homes with 50-99 beds. It's one of only five facilities in the state to make the list in that category.

Father Baker Manor in Orchard Park ranked number 35 for nursing homes with 150 or more beds. McAuley Residence in Tonawanda was ranked number 50 in the state in that same category.

“These national rankings represent our caregivers’ commitment to excellence and the high quality, compassionate care they provide to our long-term care residents,” Catholic Health Senior Vice President of Home & Community Based Care  Tom Gleason said. “Their hard work and dedication is the reason why our facilities rank among the best in New York State.”

The 2025 Best Nursing Homes list covered over 1,000 homes across 25 states with the highest number of nursing homes according to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data. The top nursing homes in each state were grouped by bed size (50-99, 100-149, and 150+) and then ranked based on four pillars: performance data, recommendations of medical professionals, accreditations, and resident satisfaction.

“Choosing a nursing home can be an overwhelming process, and we hope this annual ranking helps families make informed decisions about the care and well-being of their loved ones,” Newsweek’s Director of Growth and Strategic Partnerships Josh Smith said.
