NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Niagara County Sheriffs Office is alerting residents that they have been noticing an increase in vehicle thefts and larcenies. These incidents have been particularly during the night.
In an effort to spread more awareness and alert those, the Sheriffs Office is instructing people to
- Lock up vehicle
- Do not leave keys in vehicle
- Hide evidence of valuables
- Close all windows completely
- Set car alarm if able to
- Park in an area visible to yourself and patrols
- Remove shopping bags that can indicate brand name
Although some of these reminders seem more obvious than others, it is still important to mention them and stay safe. People are encouraged to always be vigilante and alert the Sheriffs Office of any suspicious activity by calling (716) 438-3393, or 911 in an emergency.
