BUFFALO, N.Y. — Today Canada will be testing their National Alert System, and some people in WNY may also get those alerts according to Town of Tonawanda Police.
In a post made to the Town of Tonawanda Police X page (formerly Twitter) they said the following:
"Canada's Test of Their National Alert System May Be Received by those near the border. Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024 Canada’s National Public Alerting System will be tested. It is likely some cell phones in the United States along the Canadian border will receive the test."
According to the Alert Ready Canada website, Ontario will get an alert around 12:55 p.m. (EST).
