BUFFALO, N.Y. — After more than 100 years in Buffalo, the Carmelite Nuns of the Monastery of the Little Flower of Jesus are moving to Florida.

The century-old, 48,000-square-foot monastery at 75 Carmel Road, Buffalo, will go to the market soon, but there are many questions that need to be sorted out first, according to Louise O'Brien, the broker chosen to handle the property.

"At this point we have a few more steps to go through and figure some things out," said O'Brien, of Gurney, Becker and Bourne. "We really are in phase one to figure out how to market this property."

The monastery, located on a three-acre parcel, is owned by Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Buffalo Inc., rather than the Diocese of Buffalo. The order also owns four smaller vacant properties adjacent to the monastery.
