BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Planning Board completed an environmental review and approved a plan for a Workforce Training Center on Monday.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the Western New York Workforce Training Center project will redevelop underused property in the Northland Corridor into a new workforce training facility.
The Buffalo Planning Board approved the project’s plan. The plan is to develop the entire 35-acre site.
The new center is expected to begin operations in 2017 and will train 300-400 workers yearly in manufacturing and energy jobs.
The project is a partnership with BUDC, ESD, the City of Buffalo and the New York Power Authority. It is mostly funded as a part of Governor Cuomo’s Buffalo Billion initiative.
