Suspicious car incident being investigated, UB Police say

Two students reported the incident while walking to their cars in the Farber parking lot Friday night.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — University at Buffalo Police are reminding students and the community to be cautious after a suspicious incident Friday night.

Around 8:50 p.m. on UB's South Campus, two students reported being followed by a vehicle with four men inside. The vehicle was described as a black minivan or crossover hatchback.

The students were walking to their cars in the Farber parking lot from Squire Hall when they told police the men called out to them.

According to an alert message from University at Buffalo Police, the students reported "hearing a repeated clicking noise, described as possibly a taser, coming from the vehicle but the students did not see anything."

The victims also said they did not recognize anyone in the vehicle.

Police stated that they would be increasing patrols in the area as a result of the report.

In addition, they reminded students and staff to sign up for UB Alerts and UB Guardian, a safety information app that authorizes the use of your cell phone as a personal safety device.
