Buffalo Police: 2 children reported as missing have been located; arrests made

"Several arrests are being made. More information to follow," Buffalo Police posted to social media at 5:01 p.m., when it announced that the children were found.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department said two children reported as missing have been located.

"Several arrests are being made. More information to follow," Buffalo Police posted to social media at 5:01 p.m., when it announced that the children had been located.

Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said that the children were first reported missing by a relative who has custody of the children around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Buffalo Police say video found during their investigation shows the children willingly getting into the same tan vehicle on Benzinger Avenue in Lovejoy around 6:15 p.m. Gramaglia says that the children's biological mother lives on Benzinger.   There is an active order of protection for the biological mother not to have any contact with the children.

Gramaglia says police detectives are currently speaking with the biological mother. They say the children are with someone else.

Police describe the vehicle the children got into as a tan/gold Chevy Impala. The front of the vehicle does not have a license plate, but police say it may be in the front window of the vehicle.  At this time, police do not have a license plate number on the vehicle.

A video has been released by police of the children getting into the tan vehicle.

When asked why no AMBER Alert has been issued, Gramaglia says they have specific criteria they have to meet before an AMBER Alert can be issued, like a license plate. They are currently working to get more information.

Anybody with information on their whereabouts is being asked to call 911immediatley.
