BUFFALO, N.Y. - New York State Thruway officials said Monday that the storm may force them to shut down the thruway Monday evening if conditions become bad enough.
Buffalo Division Director Thomas Pericak, speaking at a press conference Monday morning, says that any decision on a closure will be made several hours in advance. Any closure would be expected to impact the section of the thruway from Lackawanna down into the Southern Tier.
Thruway officials also urged drivers to stay home during the heaviest parts of the storm, and to use extreme caution if they absolutely have to drive.
